The History of Taylor's Auto Max in Great Falls, MT

In July, 1980, brothers Jim and Mike Taylor and Jim's wife Bamma opened Taylor's Fine Used Cars in Great Falls, Montana.  In 1982, Steve Taylor joined the company as a salesperson and later became a partner. As the years continued, brother Mark, and sons Jim Jr. and John Taylor joined the team. Our extensive auto sales and management experience along with each of our individual skills persevered through some of the most difficult times the auto industry has ever seen. We have now become one of Montana's largest and most respected automobile dealers.

In 1996, we purchased an available facility that formerly operated as a new car dealership and opened Montana's first used car superstore. The business was named Taylor's Auto Max. The dealership has since added the NIssan franchise in 2014 and the GMC franchise in 2019 becoming what is now Taylor's Auto Max GMC Nissan. In 1997, in the dealership’s original building, we opened Taylor’s Automotive Credit Resources, a secondary finance outlet specializing in helping people who have experienced credit challenges and need help finding the financing necessary to purchase a vehicle.

The year 2025 marks the 45th anniversary of our successful family partnership.  Jim Sr., Bamma and Steve are no longer active in daily operations but maintain positions in the corporation.  Mike Taylor passed away in 2022.  Mark Taylor, Jim Taylor Jr. and new partner Dan Clowes continue to operate and grow the business.  We are fortunate to currently employ approximately 85 people.  Without our employees, our continued success would be impossible.  Our employees are our greatest asset, and we are proud to call them our partners.  We stock an inventory of 350+ new and late model pre-owned vehicles.  Our pre-owned inventory is very diverse specializing in the Pacific Northwest ranging from Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Volvo luxury vehicles to the very popular Chevrolet Silverado, Ford F150 and Dodge Ram pickup trucks.
