Pickup trucks have evolved and are no longer the clunky, unattractive vehicles they used to be. Although nowadays they are smooth, comfortable, and technology-rich, their main purpose is and always will be utility. The 2019 Nissan XD is a great example of a modern truck that manages to offer both comfort and supreme power.
A Multitude of Engine and Cabin Choices
Everyone has different uses for their truck, so it needs to have enough cabin size and design choices to please all potential buyers. The 2019 Nissan Titan XD is available in three distinct cab configurations: single-cab, King Cab, and crew-cab. The single cab comes with an 8-foot bed and is only available on the lower trims, the King Cab is available with a 6.5-foot bed, while the crew cab is the 4-door option and is available for all five trim levels.
There are two engine choices for all cab configurations and trims. The first one is a muscular 5.6-liter V-8 gasoline engine that is capable of producing up to 390 horsepower and 394 pound-feet of torque, with the help of a 7-speed automatic transmission. While this is a powerful and reliable engine that most pickup truck drivers will be pleased with, the only way to get the absolute best out of the 2019 Nissan XD is by going with the diesel option.
Spectacular Cummins Diesel Engine
The Cummins turbo diesel turns the XD into an absolute monster and greatly increases its performance numbers. The 5.0-liter V-8 diesel delivers 310 horsepower, which is slightly lower than the 390 offered by the gasoline-powered engine. However, most truck-specific jobs involve hauling and towing, and the spectacular 555 pound-feet of torque that the Cummins engine delivers makes the 2019 Nissan XD the ideal work truck. Its revolutionary 32-valve system allows the XD to have a higher towing capacity than most trucks in its class and a smoother ride than larger trucks.
Great Performance
Just because it’s not specifically designed for road performance doesn’t mean that the 2019 Nissan XD equipped with the Cummins engine isn’t fast. Despite its size, it manages to reach a speed of 60 miles per hour from a complete standstill in 9.6 seconds, a good time for a vehicle that was created with other purposes in mind. The braking, steering, and overall handling are very solid and precise, meaning that the XD is easy to drive in everyday situations.
However, a pickup truck’s main performance indicators relate to its utility. The XD has a maximum payload of 2,250 pounds, which should be enough for the vast majority of situations. The Titan can tow up to 12,710 pounds with the help of the Cummins diesel engine, its incredible muscle power making it the perfect work companion.
Trucks are arguably the most versatile vehicles on the road today. The 2010 Nissan Titan XD makes a good case for that by being fast, comfortable, and equipped with the latest infotainment technology, but also by having enough raw power to get any job done.
