Russell Museum If you want to learn more about life in the Midwest during the 19th and 20th centuries, this is a wonderful place to learn more. The artist for whom the museum is named, C.M. Russell, is best known for his paintings that captured how Great Falls went from frontier land to a settled city. There are 15 galleries inside the museum where you can see paintings, sculptures, and letters from C.M. Russell. For those that want to see what life looked like in Great Falls back during the cowboy days, you'll love getting a peek into the past at this museum. Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail Interpretive Center Great Falls was an important place along the Lewis and Clark trail. If you head to the Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail Interpretive Center, you can learn about their journey, what they found when they first arrived in the region, and why it was such an important place as the frontier was settled. The interpretive center is very hands-on. There are films to watch, lectures given every week, and you can even go on a ranger-led tour along the nearby trails to learn more about the area. Inside the center, you'll find permanent exhibits like the interactive boat along the Missouri River. Test your strength to see if you can pull the boat along the river's current. In addition to telling the story of Lewis and Clark's journey, the interpretive center also teaches you about the lives of the Plains and Northwest Indians who were native to the Great Falls region. Do You Need New Tires Before Winter Arrives?

The year is flying by and before you know it, you'll be bundling up against the wind and snow. While you might be ready with your scarf and gloves, is your car ready for winter? Fall is the ideal time to change your tires and get your car ready for winter. Now is the time to check on your car's tires and find out if you need to get new ones. It's much better to plan ahead and get what you need before that first snowfall arrives. more How to Know If You Need New Tires One of the first things you should consider is how old your tires are. If they are more than five years old, you should be taking them in for professional inspections at least once a year. If your tires are more than 10 years old, you should definitely be replacing them with new tires. It's not just age that causes wear and tears in tires. Bad weather conditions, heat, improper air pressure, speeding, quick braking, potholes, and chemicals can all cause your tires to wear out. It's also important to keep an eye on how your tires look. Do you notice any uneven tread wear, damaged valve caps, or shallow tread? You can check your tread by using a penny. Insert the penny head down. If you can see the top of Lincoln's head, then it's time for new tires. Which Types of Tires Do You Need? Even if your tires still have great tread and ride well, you may want to consider swapping out your current tired for winter or all-season tires. There are several different types of tires, and if you currently have summer tires or tires that aren't made for extremely cold temperatures, then you definitely need to swap them out for new ones. If you live somewhere that only gets a moderate amount of snow, then all-weather tires are your best option. This means you can use them year-round in both moderately hot temperatures as well as in icy or snowy conditions. However, if you live somewhere that gets a lot of snow or temperatures that regularly fall below 44 degrees Fahrenheit, then you will want to invest in winter tires. The rubber on a normal all-weather tire gets hard at temperatures below 44 degrees. In order for a tire to work at it's best, especially when you need traction, it needs to be soft. Winter tires have tread that has been specifically designed to help you stop in ice, snow, and even cold dry roads. The rubber used on the tires ensures that the tires stay flexible even at very low temperatures, so there is no risk of hard rubber. If you're not sure whether or not you need new tires or are confused about what type of tires to use for your vehicle this winter head to Taylors Auto Max and speak to a specialist. They can give you advice on the best tires for your vehicle and even help you winterize your vehicle for those cold Montana days that are looming ever closer. Image by MSVG via CC BY 2.0

3 Things You Can Only Do or See in Great Falls, MT

With a rich history — due to the Lewis and Clark expedition that made its way through the town as well as plenty of natural attractions like Giant Springs — it's not difficult to find fun things to do in Great Falls. Here are three things you can only experience in this Montana town. more Enjoy Wildlife at Benton Lake The Benton Lake National Wildlife Refuge is a few minutes north of Great Falls and covers over 12,000 acres of land. This is a shallow wetland teeming with wildlife and beautiful views of nature. Bird-watchers will love the opportunity to take in the abundance of different species that make their homes in and along this grassy lake. But birds aren't the only wildlife you'll get to enjoy during your visit, as 28 various species of mammals have also settled here. Be on the lookout for different types of geese, swans, antelope, and deer, among others. Visit the Largest Freshwater Spring in the US Lewis and Clark first discovered Giant Springs during their expedition in 1805. This is the largest freshwater spring in the country, with 156 million gallons of water flowing from it each day. Supplied by the Madison Aquifer in the Little Belt Mountains — a section of the larger Rocky Mountains — the water that flows from Giant Springs keeps a fixed 54-degree temperature no matter the season. Although many people visit this awesome display of flowing water, Giant Springs offers even more to do. As Montana's most-visited state park, Giant Springs has 4,500 acres of land welcoming visitors to explore. With over 20 miles of trails, the spring is a huge draw for hikers, runners, and cyclists. Trails range from paved and flat to rocky and hilly, so there's sure to be something for everyone's skill level. Fishing and picnicking are also favorite activities of the park's regular visitors. Towing your Recreational Gear With a 2018 Nissan Armada

The 2018 Nissan Armada is the perfect choice for buyers looking to get a quality SUV that can accommodate their active lifestyles. Whether you're interested in something that can carry everything your family needs on cross-country vacations or you love to take the camping action off-road, the Armada has something to offer for everybody. With its expandable cargo capacity and impressive towing capabilities, you'll have no trouble packing and hauling everything you need for your next adventure. more Towing Capacity With the 2018 Nissan Armada's solid construction, in combination with a powerful, 390 horsepower-producing V-8 engine, it's capable of towing a massive 8,500 lbs. That's more than enough for most travelers to connect and haul large loads such as boats, trailers, and pop-up campers. To give you an idea, the average weight for a pop-up camper is around 600 lbs. while the average family boat weighs around 2,200 lbs. The Armada is more than capable of handling these loads, so there's no need to worry about exceeding its impressive towing capacity under normal circumstances. Hitch Ball Mounts If you are planning to haul a tow load, it's important to note that the 2018 Nissan Armada doesn't come standard with a hitch ball but does offer multiple optional add-ons, that are appropriate for normal towing scenarios and are reasonably affordable. If you are planning to tow gear behind the Armada, a typical setup will cost you less than $150. If you need additional support and capacity, though, a weight-distributing hitch ball mount will increase your investment by only a couple of hundred dollars. Overall, most hitch mounts will be able to accommodate around 5,000 lbs., which is still more than enough to handle your typical load. Roof Rail Cross Bars If you need additional room for sporting gear such as skis, canoes, etc., or you just need more room for luggage than the interior cargo area has to offer, optional roof rail crossbars can significantly increase your overall cargo capacity. These steel bars are factory installed and integrate into the existing roof rails that come standard on most trims. Adding these rails is a simple, cost-effective way to dramatically increase the cargo space without cutting into seating capacity. Hatch Tent Nissan's hatch tent is possibly one of the coolest vehicle accessories you'll ever see. This simple add-on connects directly to the hatch door of the Armada and converts into a ten-by-ten sleeping area that protects against insects and rain. The hatch tent can accommodate up to five sleepers and is a great option to supplement the capacity of an existing pop-up camper or trailer. If you're planning to take a camping trip with your Armada at any point, this is one accessory you're going to want to invest in. The 2018 Nissan Armada is one of the most capable and versatile sport utilities on the market right now. If you live an active lifestyle and you need a vehicle that can keep up, this is the car for you. Visit a local dealership and test drive the Armada today. Image by Pixabay

Road Tripping in the Nissan Leaf

Electric cars like the Nissan Leaf are becoming more popular every day, but there are still plenty of people out there that are hesitant to make the switch due to the pre-conceived notion that they're not practical for trips longer than a drive to and from work. While that was certainly a valid concern in the early days of the electric vehicle, modern electric cars are more capable than ever before. In fact, cars like the Nissan Leaf may be even better for long trips than their combustion engine counterparts. more More Miles per Charge At the beginning of the electric vehicle's life, maximum range was limited to about 80 miles on a single charge, on the high end. Most mass-produced vehicles were closer to only 60 miles or so. This problem was only made worse by the fact that, in most cases, the only available charging options were expensive charge ports installed in the home of the vehicle's owner. The Nissan Leaf, however, is capable of traveling over 150 miles on one charge. That's more than twice the range that was previously available. But is it enough to justify a long road trip? Easy Access to Public Charging Nissan has an extensive, ever-expanding network of public charging stations all over the United States. When you buy a new Leaf, you'll be given two years of free charging at these stations but, even if you don't have free access, topping off at a Nissan charging point is still less expensive than filling up a tank of gas. Due to the large number of stations available, you're likely never very far from one, so there's little need to worry about running out of juice when you're not close to home. As an added convenience, the car's onboard connected system will help you easily locate and navigate to the nearest charging station whenever you need. High-Tech Features for a High-Tech Ride The Nissan Leaf's high-end technology isn't limited to its superior range and charging capacity. Connected onboard systems provide access to support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, providing you with instant access to your favorite mobile apps through the car's touch-screen interface. The car's companion app also provides on-demand access to important information like the current charge level, door locks, and even climate control. A Car That Tattles When Something's Not Right One of the coolest features that the Leaf offers is the ability to receive customized alerts when something out of the ordinary happens. This is ideal on a road trip with multiple drivers. You can set the car to tell you when a driver exceeds the speed limit, when a valet drives the car outside of a specific radius, or when your teenage driver takes the car out of town without permission. Curfew alerts can also let you know when somebody's driving the car when they're not supposed to. The Nissan Leaf is a much more practical vehicle than you might expect. If you haven't checked one out yet, stop by a local Nissan dealership and take one out for a test drive. Image by Autoviva, Licensed via CC BY 2.0
